Super Sonic

It never ceases to amaze me. Just when I feel like the film has been polished and finished and I'm waiting for it come out the other end, yet another phase always comes into view (in this case "sound design") during which the film has a new life, and changes in ways I had not expected. below is a picture of what my waking life has been for several months. everything from footsteps to clothes to ice shooting out of a human hand... can't wait till we mix...

COLOR CORRECT

We've arrived at the color correction for Alter Egos. This is the part of the process where we (by we I mean the cinematographer, Chris Lavasseur and colorist Milan Boncich) look at every single shot and make sure it looks beautiful. Using a program called "Scratch."

Here's one of my favorite shots - "Supervillains."

REAL SUPER HEROES: The Original Iron Man – (AKA "Götz")

You think Tony Stark was cool? Well... first of all - how cool can you be if you’re not real? (Yes, C-thru, I agree.)

But here have been real Cyborg fighters, the first of which - Gottfried Von Berlichingen (AKA "Götz") - had his right hand blown off in 1504 by a canon blast while either giving the enemy the middle finger, a thumbs up, or the “A. OK.” symbol...it’s still heavily disputed. We may never know what exactly he was doing with his hand, but, the point is, much like Darth Vadar, Robocop, or Cherry Darling in “Planet Terror” Götz stuck a new improved metal limb on his body: a hand made of iron, (see illustration above) complete with spring mechanisms, buttons and levers to control the fingers. With this nifty new device he could throw a spear into a water bed, play fruit ninja with a real life sword and real life watermelon, pull the reins on his oversized pet pig, paint his toenails, and even write lyrics to pop songs down in his diary. “My Left Foot” doesn’t seem so far fetched now, does it?

Green Scream!

We were back at Nut Roasters this week (a sound stage where we filmed scenes from "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead" in late 2007.)

Milan, one of our producers, took this photo. Not gonna say what exactly it is...but it is what it looks like. A Super Corps press conference.

Woodland Empire

In the photo below which I stole from Matt Mitchell's facebook album, is myself, Matt (behind the camera) and the cinematographer, Chris Lavasseur. We're in the woods filming an actor digging a grave.
